MEET THE FOUNDER

After having my son in 2021, during the pandemic, I faced my own struggles with postpartum depression and anxiety. It didn’t help that the grief of losing my mom was bubbling over. When my son was just 13 weeks old, I reached a breaking point, and my aunt came to my rescue. She didn’t do anything complicated—she just mothered me. I held my baby, and she held me, helping me foster a sense of self-confidence and newfound identity as a parent.

At Rose Duffy Lactation, we want to help you foster your self efficacy as a parent. Just like my aunt did for me, sometimes it takes someone to hold space for you—so you can find your strength, your confidence, and your own way forward.

In terms of clinical experience, I have over ten years working as an occupational therapist (OT). My experience as an OT included supporting adults who had complex medical conditions - whether that be physical or mental in nature. I spent many of those client interactions with those living with terminal illness or nearing end-of-life.

I believe birth and death are two sides of the same coin. This unique background allows me to bring a deep compassion and trauma-informed approach to the perinatal world, supporting new families through complex emotions, grief, and major life transitions.

Additionally, I worked with people to feel more confident while living with their condition or disease. A major focus of OT was focused on improving my clients’ self-efficacy surrounding management of their symptoms. Thus, a large part of my approach with my perinatal clients stems from this perspective.
